AUDIO PUBLISHERS ASSOCIATION TO HONOR THE YEAR’S BEST AUDIOBOOKS ON JUNE 1 IN THE BIG APPLE
APA Announces The Audies® Finalists in 31 Categories; Narrator and Broadway Star Jim Dale to Emcee The Audies® Gala
(Princeton Junction, NJ) – The Audio Publishers Association (APA) will host The Audies® awards for excellence in audiobooks on June 1, 2007 in New York City. The winners will be announced in a gala celebration held at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center. Renowned Broadway actor and narrator, Jim Dale, will serve as master of ceremonies.
The Audies® celebration recognizes a multitude of published audiobooks. Categories for judges’ consideration include Fiction (abridged and unabridged), Inspirational/Faith-Based Fiction, Multi-Voiced Performance, Romance, Science Fiction, Spanish Language and much more. As the only awards program in the United States devoted entirely to honoring audiobooks and spoken word entertainment, The Audies® gala brings together industry, entertainment, and political dignitaries to celebrate titles issued from November 1, 2005 through October 31, 2006.
This year, more than 800 entries were submitted for consideration. With winners to be announced in each of the 31 categories, the gala will also reveal the prestigious Audiobook of the Year award winner and a special Judges’ Award will be presented for titles in the Politics category. Finalists for Audiobook of the Year, which recognizes the audiobook with the greatest impact on the audio publishing industry, will be announced next month.
